The opportunity for residents to vote on their future is the culmination of the work of Woodlands’ leaders and residents to find an innovative solution that would provide The Woodlands an opportunity to determine its future.
Earlier this year, legislation introduced by Senator Williams and Representative Eissler was signed by Governor Perry.SB 1012 authorizes regional partnership agreements with the cities of Houston and Conroe to release The Woodlands from the threat of annexation; HB 4109 provides for the expansion of Town Center Improvement District which will serve as the political subdivision for the entirety of The Woodlands.
Ultimately, these pieces of legislation, endorsed by voters in November, will allow The Woodlands to determine their own future form of governance.
