| Filing for February elections begins Thursday, December 31 | Election InformationAre you interested in serving the community? More than 100 positions will be up for election in February to serve on the Residential Design Review Committees and the Village Associations. Are you interested in running for office?Filing for all of these positions begins Thursday, December 31, 2009, and ends Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 5 p.m., for the 2010 election. No forms will be accepted after the 5 p.m. deadline! During the filing period, filing forms may be obtained at The Woodlands Township Service Center (formerly the Community Associations Building) at 2201 Lake Woodlands Drive, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, from village association presidents, or online at www.thewoodlandstownship-tx.gov. Filing is open to residents and property owners in The Woodlands, ages 18 and over. Positions require residency and/or property ownership in specific villages and interested individuals should refer to the appropriate Bylaws and Covenants for eligibility requirements. Plan to vote!New this year, all voting for the Residential Design Review Committees and Village Associations will take place at the Community Associations Building, 2201 Lake Woodlands Drive. Residents and property owners may take advantage of convenience voting from Monday, February 15, through Friday, February 19, 2010, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. On Election Day, Saturday, February 20, 2010, polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information, please contact the Community Associations of The Woodlands at 281.210.3800. Positions up for election in February, 2010: Residential Design Review CommitteeThroughout the transition in governance, The Woodlands Community Association Covenants and The Woodlands Association Covenants (both herein referred to as the Covenants) continue to be encumbered on the property. As prescribed by the Covenants, five-member resident-elected committees serve to facilitate property improvements of their peers. All Villages· Up to five Residential Design Review Committee members to be elected for each village, all serving one-year terms. This includes two committees for villages such as Indian Springs and Grogan’s Mill, which are divided into two geographic areas based on Covenant imposition. Village AssociationsEach of the villages has an association which facilitates activities specific to their village. Each village will have officer positions and/or area (neighborhood) representative positions open for the 2010 election. The President and Secretary elected in 2010 will serve a one year term in order to synchronize staggered terms. In future elections, the President and Secretary will be elected to two year terms.
